TJ Zizzo, driver of the PEAK Motor Oil Top Fuel Dragster, will be returning to Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis this weekend in an attempt to conclude the rain-delayed Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto-Plus. Persistent rain showers and remnants of Hurricane Isaac’s broad path, forced series officials to delay the event by one week.
Zizzo, who placed 15th out of 27, is excited for the opportunity to aim higher. “As disappointed as I was to leave last weekend without qualifying, the team is excited to have a second chance to reclaim a spot in the final elimation rounds,” said Zizzo. “The improvements we made to the car before the U.S. Nationals tested well, so I am excited to get another couple of runs down the track with the updated parts.”
With only three races remaining for the Zizzo Racing team, qualifying at the “Big Go” is espically important for both Zizzo and his crew. “The U.S. Nationals is the best race of the season. Everyone out there will be fighting to get a spot, so we have to be focused and ready for anything,” said Zizzo.
The rain delay has drivers anxious for the races to begin this weekend. “Regardless of what happened in the past race, I am ready to get on the track and excited for racing to resume. Zizzo Racing consistenly qualifies at many of the events we attend, and the U.S. Nationals are no exception,” said Zizzo.
To catch TJ at the U.S. Nationals this weekend, stop by the PEAK Auto pit area beginning at 7:30am EST on Saturday, Sepetember 8th.
